I am frequently asked for reference information for the SBA program. I recommend the following
SBA Website - The section for Lender's is www.sba.gov/banking. This is where you will find the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). It will be listed on the right hand side of the page. Just Click on Regulations and SOPs, then on the current SOP. This document is searchable. Click on the binoculars on the left side and then type in the term you want to search for.
SBA District Office - Your local SBA office is always available to answer questions or give direction. You can call the with a "what if" situation and they will assist. For those of you in the South Florida District Office, you can contact Charles Long (now located in Tampa) at Charles.Long@sba.gov.
7aQuestions@sba.gov - This is an e-mail for standard 7(a) processing questions and they are very prompt in responding with answers and direction,
NAGGL - The National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders is a wealth of information on SBA programs. If you are not a member, but are making SBA loans, I recommend that you consider membership. They are the industry leader in SBA training. Some information is available to all, but you must be a member to access their full services. They are also an excellent source of answers to questions about "how to" or "what if". Their website is www.naggl.org.
